The Brooking is an educational charity created to advance the education of the public and professions in the field of architectural detail. The Brooking was founded in 2013 upon the donation of the 'Brooking National Collection' by founding member Charles Brooking, a vast and unrivalled collection of British windows, doors, staircase parts, rainwater goods and fire grates spanning over 500 years of design and making.
Until now the Brooking has focused primarily on safeguarding its collection due to limited funds and resources, however we look forward to sharing news in 2019 of an exciting new opportunity and plans for the future.
In the meantime we enjoy a number of collaborations which provide public and private access to parts of our collection and allow us to deliver on our educational objectives. These include with Charles Brooking at his personal teaching gallery in Cranleigh, Surrey; the Villum Window Collection in Copenhagen, Denmark; and The Cass (The Sir John Cass School of Art, Architecture and Design, London Metropolitan University) in London.
